NPDC is updating its Rates Remission on Māori Freehold Land Policy to bring in changes that will help Māori keep ownership of their land and use and develop it.
The changes are required under the Local Government (Rating of Whenua Māori) Amendment Act 2021.
We sought feedback on initial proposals with Māori land owners in February 2022.
A draft policy will be reported to Te Huinga Taumatua at its 5 July meeting and to the full Council to consider for adoption on 26 July.
Marae can apply for funding for a range of projects like building, health and safety or accessibility improvements.
Urupā owners/trustees can apply for funding to partially cover the costs relating to their urupā.
If your household or business has been affected by COVID-19 our rates relief package can help.
