Hi there, I am the current Chair of the Clifton Community Board. I live in Tongapōrutu and care passionately about, and for our local community. Over the past term I have been an active voice at Council chambers, representing the voice of rural and small communities, and strongly advocate for community needs within council itself. I listen attentively to local concerns and get stuck in to make stuff happen, and while patient, I do not let things pass by without reaching resolution. I have a manufacturing business background and know the value of teams and being entrepreneurial. I acknowledge, respect, and work collaboratively with tangata whenua of the Clifton district to achieve positive outcomes for all people.

Yes. We must be responsible stewards of our assets and catch up on the deferred renewables bringing our plumbing back into order. We also need to operate within our resource consents and stop polluting our waterways. However, we must also be prudent with every ratepayer $ in achieving this.
No. It’s just not good legislation. While there is some logic in scale, at some point you reach the diseconomies of scale. Some councils need some assistance but there are other mechanisms to achieve this. We need to retain control over key assets that affect the daily lives of our residents.
Yes & No. Firstly we need to fix what is broken, but yes, every decision made should be applied through the lens of addressing climate change. However no, we shouldn’t do any new spend specifically on climate change itself. This space is changing so fast.
Yes. I had a business in an area where Council was not over bureaucratic and allowed process to flow freely. Local business needs to thrive as this brings jobs, wealth, and life to the district. Taranaki is a great place to live, let it be your income as well.
Yes, I supported the Māori Ward. Recognising the value tangata whenua brings to the discussion was well overdue. I look forward to working and collaborating with Māori for the benefit and wellbeing of all people in the New Plymouth district.
Well, we reduced the Councillors in these areas with the representation review! Vote for Murray Seamark. I live in an isolated rural community and know the challenges people face in these areas every day. I will bring this voice to the table and support the influence of the Community Boards.
Isn’t it ironic that we are building a new sports hub when facilities in Waitara and Inglewood are underutilised? Make it fit to the budget, there will always be opportunity to add to it later on. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
