Waitaoro Alexandra Batley

Waitaoro Alexandra Batley

My principal place of residence is not in the Clifton Community Board area.

Tena koutou katoa, My Name is Alexandra Batley.

My Maori name acknowledges my Kuia Waitaoro Raniera. My whanau are Poutakawaenga, which means I have dual Rangatira whakapapa into both Ngati Tama (Pukearuhe Pa) and Ngati Maniapoto (Maniaroa Marae) The Clifton area is significant to my whanau as our Kuia Rangirere Te Kapo, daughter of Te Kapo Raniera and Mamaero Wharauroa grew up here.

I am currently on the Board in the Mokau Museum. In this space I share the responsibilities of preserving, archiving, and protecting our Taonga Maori that not only rest within the museum but are brought through the doors from around the motu.

These responsibilities extend further into the role I hold as a Tangata Tiaki/Cultural Monitor on Te Ara o Te Ata/Mt Messenger Bypass for Ngati Tama. For these reasons, I look forward to being an active member of the Clifton Community Board. Waitaoro Alexandra Batley
