My principal place of residence is in the District-Wide Councillor area.
I am Taranaki born and bred, and I love our slice of paradise. I would love to make it even better, for everyone.
My friends and family would describe me as kind, passionate and trustworthy.
Leadership is not about the leader - it is about the ability to make all voices heard. I am a representative of someone who is usually quiet, introverted, and would rather stay hidden. However, I am passionate about making information about current decisions accessible at the right times so that your voice is heard. I also like making information easy to understand.
The council is a representation of the people. It is important to include young people to encourage new ideas and perspectives on issues. I will be the one to ask 'why'.
Sometimes the solution is a simple fix.
No. There needs to be some natural increase, though I think its important that the needs of our people are met first. Right now, the average household is suffering financially. It is important that as many people in Taranaki as possible understand the process and have their opinion heard.
No. As it stands, I believe there needs to be more thought, planning and consultation before any irreversible and potentially expensive decisions are made.
Yes. There is always more everyone could be doing to improve how we take care of Papatūānuku. We need to create change with small changes first and encourage everyone to get involved.
No. We are lucky in Taranaki to have places such as Venture Taranaki whom provide varied business resources and support. I think there are other demographics which would benefit from the extra help.
Absolutely! It is imperative that our Māori is represented correctly. There are Māori cultures and values which many NZ Europeans do not understand, but must be upheld for the tāngata.
These communities are isolated by distance. It would be great to bring people from New Plymouth to these communities through events. This brings local business and awareness to our rural districts.
The purpose of this project is to support the health and well-being of our people in sports. A professional sports hub means Taranaki is able to host more sports events, bringing in tourism and business. It also means our locals will have a suitable place to play and practice.
The people. We have been through an extremely challenging couple of years. I see how hard it is for people to live, much less thrive. We cannot travel, many cannot afford to buy a house despite working full-time. Our people are what makes this city, and our people need help.
