My principal place of residence is in the District-Wide Councillor area.
Having grown up on a farm and with parents that diversified into Horticulture I know what hard work is about. I'm a trade qualified Fitter/welder with a Diploma in mechanical engineering, having had various roles here and overseas from on the tools to Project Management.
If elected to council I hope to bring a more conservative stance to the spending of rate payers money, Especially in this current economic climate.
No. Rates should be able to be held inline with average inflation. NPDC needs to stick to a budget prioritizing needs over wants. If the government's 3 waters reform were to stick then rates should reduce, because we will be taxed another way!
No. When has a government ever been able to run anything efficiently? . Water is particular to a district i.e you're not going to pipe water to another district. The reason I believe for the reforms is to share the burden for mismanaged district council assets. At a minimum there could be a government body making sure councils are prioritising water assets.
No. Although I am in favour of promoting public transport and reducing road congestion.
Yes. If business is doing well the community is doing well.
I would support and work with the elected official, but I am not in favour of Maori wards as I am against separatist ideals.
No answer received from the candidate.
Definitely capped, this needs to be looked at as a long term goal, so as not to be a financial strain on the region. Also the location needs to be reviewed.
The management of projects, use of consultants and their accountability, Are the ratepayers getting value for money?
