My principal place of residence is in the Kaitake Community Board area.
I came to Ōākura from the U.S. in 2000, recruited by the Ministry of Education as a Speech Therapist and Service Manager for Taranaki schools. I'm still living and loving it here 22 years later and as a NZ citizen. I am a community minded person with a lifelong commitment to the care of people of all ages and cultures.
Once retired from working for the Ministry, I wanted to remain connected to my community. Many remember me as The Ice Cream Lady when I scooped and sold ice cream from a cart at Shearer Reserve. I've always worked for the collective good as in past National elections and censuses.
I'm interested in the well-being of children and also in adults remaining active. I started Pickleball at the Ōākura Hall, a sport inclusive of all adults. My education includes two Masters Degrees.

Yes. While increases are always painful in the short run, the benefits in the long term usually outweigh the initial cost when the money is put to good use for projects that improve sustainability, well-being and quality of life -- for now and for future generations.
Yes. Yes, with reservation. We definitely need some reform to maintain healthy water standards. I want to know more detail about the central government’s Three Waters plan before deciding whether it’s the best way as we look to the future.
Yes. This is a high priority issue on the minds of all. In the past month we have witnessed the human suffering and infrastructure damage caused by extreme rains as a result of climate change. NPDC must do more to address climate change.

Yes, until we have gotten better at partnership with Māori and having a level playing field for decision-making.
Attend to the concerns presenting by those communities, whether they are from local Boards, organisations or individuals.
Capped for now. The risk of a budget blow-out is too great. A plan whereby the main goals are achieved that will provide opportunities for sport activities and other multi-purpose use. Future expansion can be considered at a later time.
Addressing climate change would be top priority, with support of sustainable practices at home, in agriculture and in business. I’m also keenly interested in maintaining the wellbeing of the people in our communities so there are social and active activities for those of all ages and cultures that will keep people engaged throughout their lives.
