My principal place of residence is in the North General Ward area.
I have spent the last three years representing you. I am happy what I have achieved so far and will continue to advocate for our ward. There will only be one north ward councillor for the next six years which means you need an experienced full time councillor representing you. My focus has and will continue to be on doing my utmost to ensure the infrastructure needs of our north ward continue to be met.
We are acutely aware of our needs: Waitara desperately needs an effective stormwater system as well as footpaths and kerb and chanelling completed while the Urenui-Onaero Wastewater Project is a priority. Funds need to be spent on core services ahead of nice to have projects.
There is still much to be done and I will continue to fight for the North Ward as your full time representative at Council.
Yes. It has been agreed to in the Long Term Plan. I support it moving forward on the proviso that money is prioritised for core council projects….infrastructure, not nice to have projects
No. It needs to be retained within the Taranaki District. Centralising core assets and control tends to become more expensive with less service levels…think Waka Kotahi and our roading. NPDC have budgeted $248 million to “fix our plumbing”. Would favour a provincial water entity
We need to do more but this whole process needs greater leadership and funding from Central Government
Yes. But not necessarily by throwing cash at it. Easier compliances costs, bringing events and promoting tourism and lifestyle.
This current council voted overwhelming for the establishment of the Maori Ward. The next representation review for all elected members and the make up of the council does not happen during the next council term
Understand their needs and issues. Very rarely see City Ward councillors in these communities. Will be interesting to see how much impact the at large councillors have in these areas.
No…must be capped. We were told that this project would be completed in budget and the extra funding required wouldn’t be an issue. The ratepayers cannot afford any extra burden for costs as there are already in excess of $100 million that they are funding for sport and leisure projects..
My priority as a current elected member has been on core services first and foremost. Fixing our plumbing must happen, the Urenui waste water project fast tracked and after 100 years or so some further commitment to install for the first time some kerb and channelling and footpaths for the majority of Waitara
