My principal place of residence is in the Waitara Community Board area.
I love living in Waitara. I have never lived in a place that is so supportive of its residents and wants to improve its standard of living. Waitara has a bad reputation, which is wholly undeserved.
I am standing for the Waitara Community Board because it has influence as to what happens here and can support what could happen here. I think the Board needs some diversity in its membership in gender and multiculturalism.
I am a retired Chartered Accountant and am on the boards of WISE and Te Korimako. I am also a Trustee on Waitara Alive and worked for the Waitara Foodbank. Both my mother's and father's whanau are long term residents.
I whakapapa to Ngati Rahiri, Otaraua, Pukerangiora, Ngati Te White, Puketapu and Manukorihi hapu.
My skills and experience will add value and my enthusiasm will give a fresh impetus to the Board.
Yes. To enable us to really enjoy living here we need to appreciate what it costs to keep the city and environs running. With inflation and wages rising 6% is a reasonable increase.
Yes. Over the years our water infrastructure has not been maintained. The break in the water pipe to Waitara was an example. We don’t have an asset; we have a liability.
Yes. The erosion around our coastline is increasing and threatening our homes. We need to be taking positive action.
Yes. Business supports people. NPDC should make doing business easier and cheaper.
Yes, I do. Local government should be inclusive.
Make sure all the infrastructure is in place and working. Make doing business easier, and encourage people to come into the towns.
I haven’t seen the plans and budget so can’t comment. A multisport hub will be used by all and add to the positives in the community.
As a Waitara Community Board member I want to ensure that our housing stock is suitable to live in – not damp and suitable for healthy children. I want businesses to come to Waitara and provide employment. I want the scourge of drugs to be driven out of town.
