Waste management at events

If you are planning a public event in the district it is a mandatory requirement to have a waste minimisation plan in place.

A zero waste event is one where through your efforts as an event organiser, as little waste as possible goes to landfill and all that can be, is recycled or composted. We can help you do this by providing:

  • advice about on-site planning, waste station set up, event waste health and safety
  • information on the collection and disposal of recycling, glass and compostables (food and compostable packaging) by waste contractors
  • waste infrastructure including Zero Waste signage, bin wraps and lids
  • advice on the sorting of waste streams by Zero Waste volunteers.

Please use the below form to submit your waste minimisation plan and to apply for funding to help you carry out your plan. Once you have filled out the form, email it to zerowasteevents@npdc.govt.nz. The application may take up to 15 days to process so please make sure you submit it well before your event.
